Fresh cedar greenery, vintage cookie molds and satin ribbon are just afew of my favorite things. And they make ourChristmas kitchen one of my most loved places.Grab your coffee and let’s take the tour!
Our kitchen is one of my favorite rooms in our home, especially at Christmas time. It’s such a warm and cozy space and the fresh greenery and vintage Christmas decor make it even better! It doesn’t take very much to decorate your kitchen for the holidays. Here’s just a few ways we’ve given our kitchen a festive look.
This year our kitchen feels a bit different. Over the summer and fall season we gave the room a mini makeover. You can see all the details on that HERE. The changes that our kitchen got made it was extra fun to decorate.
One of my favorite things that I added to the room this season are my vintage cookie molds. I found these little guys at the beginning of the year at a local antique/consignment shop. I hung them with some cream satin ribbon and topped them with some left over greenery I had from the garland on our bannister. They’re the perfect touch for my baking corner!
I have always added a wreath to our range hood. When Josh built it, I made sure that the size would work for seasonal wreaths. This wreath is from Target. Sadly, they don’t carry it anymore, but any kind of cedar or boxwood wreath would work great. You can find a similar wreath HERE.
I try to keep our counter tops fairly clear. I like to use kitchen items that serve double duty as decor. A small framed antique print and paperwhite bulbs create the perfect amount or decor in the space.
I know I’ve said it a million times but our breakfast nook is my favorite spot in our home. You’ll find Josh and I right here every morning, sipping coffee. This space has always been an easy one decorate. You won’t find mini wreaths this year on the back of our chairs like past years, (You can see last years tour HERE.) but I did use fresh greenery on our shelves, It’s such an easy and cheap way to make a big impact. The pop of green is essential in this neutral space.
More paperwhite bulbs and a few vintage ornaments are a simple yet elegant touch to our breakfast table. Understated decor has always been my go-to. I like to be able to live in the space without a lot of fussy decor items everywhere. By putting the vignette in a basket tray, it’s easy to remove from the table when needed.
Doesn’t the cedar look so festive against my copper cookware? Yes, I use it every year in this space but the mixture of textures and color is just so pretty. Many places that sell trees and fresh garlands will give you clippings for free. It’s a very affordable way to decorate shelves, table tops and mantels.
Our DIY plate rack even got a little greenery. Instead of hanging the mini wreaths from our windsor chairs, I Hung one over our holiday platter. It’s was a fun and unexpected touch. If you’re interested in making your own plate rack, you can find my tutorial HERE.
I hope you’re able to find inspiration for your home this Christmas from my kitchen. Holiday decorating doesn’t have to be heavily done and with expensive pieces. The simple things, like greenery from your yard, glass ball ornaments from a thrift store and extra ribbon from your gift wrapping stash can all be used to create festive and classic look. Get creative and most importantly, have fun with it!
Be sure to stop by the next blog on today’s tour list. Christmas is always my favorite season for home tours. I know you’re going to love them as much as I do and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
